December Whiskey Wednesday Selection: Pikesville Rye
Thanks to everyone who joined us for our first Whiskey Wednesday alumni get-together last night. We had a great time sipping on some quality wheated bourbon and catching up.
The next Whiskey Wednesday will be on December 9 at 8:00 p.m., and we’re going to spice things up a little bit and venture into the world of rye whiskey. Our suggested bottle to pick up for the event is Pikesville Rye.
First produced in Maryland in the 1890s, Pikesville Rye, along with the rest of the once-booming Maryland Rye industry, was shuttered by Prohibition. The brand reemerged after Prohibition and became the last standing Maryland Rye, as the rest of the industry’s production had ceased. Now produced in Kentucky from extra-aged barrels stored in prime warehouse locations, Heaven Hill Distillery keeps this historic Maryland mark alive.
